It's official: After weeks of "contract negotiations" American Idol has severed ties with Paula Abdul. But, to let her tell it, she decided to leave the show. Execs over at Fox probably didn't want to pay her $20 million (or was it $12 million?) for the season and negotiations broke down. Whatever the case, Paula's unique brand of crazy will be missed.
Here's what she tweeted last night:
With sadness in my heart, I've decided not to return to #IDOL. I'll miss nurturing all the new talent, but most of all being a part of a show that I helped from day 1 become an international phenomenon.
What I want to say most , is how much I appreciate the undying support and enormous love that you have showered upon me.
It truly has been breathtaking, especially over the past month.
But wait! Some are saying that Paula is lying and this is all a publicity stunt. Allegedly, Paula has already signed a new contract which will keep her on Idol.
Interesting.
